Realistic Medicine Deputy Lead / Consultant Physician

Pauline is a consultant Physician who trained in General Internal Medicine, with an interest in remote and rural practice. She is a Shetlander who moved back to the island to take up a consultant post in 2005. She has an interest in medical education and is Interim Director of Medicine for NHS Shetland.

Pauline is a keen advocate for remote and rural medicine and the need to provide high quality healthcare to the more remote parts of Scotland. Working in the far North she is aware of the privileges and challenges of being a generalist. She sees the provision of high quality teaching and training in Shetland as essential to the future of remote and rural practice.
