Scottish Ambulance Service

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) is a special health board, providing a paramedic-led accident and emergency service to respond to 999 calls. SAS also provide other functions such as a patient transport service, the Air Ambulance Fleet, and specialist responses to major incidents.

It employs approximately 4,500 people and covers all of Scotland’s mainland and islands- a range of around 5,300 square miles.
