NHS 24 is a special health board, established on 6 April 2001. It provides Scotland’s national telehealth and telecare service.
Members of the public can use the service in two main ways: a telephone advice and triage line that covers the out-of-hours period, similar to NHS Direct Wales and the 111 service in England; and a self-help guide available on the NHS 24 website.
